It can be repaired if caught early enough, If the crack is traveling or is too large you will need a replacement, the sooner the better, If you wait the crack will get out of hand

its a chip, nick or crack no more than 1", then most glass repair companies, or services can fix it. this will not be a 100% fix as you will have a slight blemish in the repair.
if the damage is in your line of sight, a new windshield is best, if not, a repair of the damge is possible. both are covered by your car insurance.
repairs are normally around $65 and a new windshield is about $200, depending on car, make, etc.
Just look under automotive glass repair in the phone book and you will find many options, some with free mobile service to you.

It depends on the size of the cracks. If the crack is small, you can get a patch kit to keep it from getting larger and obstructing your view. If it's large, get a quote online or from local window and windshield repairs (call and ask) a lot of them will do the service for a low price and good quality service to replace it. In my area some even do it for free for promotional services and give you a brand new windshield. Be careful and try to get it as soon as you can, because temperature can cause it to get worse, and cops can stop you as well for obstruction of view with a ticket. Good luck!

If it is a small crack/chip and it didnt go all the way through, then it can be fixed. The same happened to my car a while ago. Called my insurance company, they gave me a claim number and recomended a glass repair company that came to my home and repaired it in under 30 minutes with a guarantee. Best part was it didnt cost me a thing. The insurance picked up the tab for me as a service to their customers. Most insurance companies will do this for you. Canyt hurt to call and ask, its only a 5 minute call.
good luck.............

The repair kits are okay, but a glass automotive glass specialist may be better able to help you here. While the repairs do not make it brand new again (you will still be able to see some of the chip), they will help stop the chip from turning into a crack.

depends on how big the crack is..but sadly the next time it gets hit and through time and weather conditions it will slowly start to widen. and depending on it's size the cops will ticket you ...so just be prepared to invest in a new windsheild...good luck:)
