I have an 84 Camarao just a little get me places car, has the 2.8 V6 and TH700-R4 transmission. Now, I have 2 questions really... first... when the transmission is warm, the fluid stays in, theres no leaks, but when it gets cold, -all- the transmission fluid comes out of somewhere...and its not the pan. Second, it had been slipping, hence my intimate knowledge of the fluid level, Ive been keeping ontop of it enough so it'll get me by til I get a new transmission. But, now its stuck in drive, and the shifter does not grab anything, it just flops from top to bottom through p,r,n,o,d,2,1 it wont catch anything. Now, would this be a linkage problem, or is my transmission finally, truely, toast?

Yeah, it sounds like the shift cable jumped off the linkage or it broke, and the trans probably needs a rebuild or at least some new seals.

torque convertor seal or driveshaft ( rear housing ) seal. sounds like your cable or linkage is broke
