It's just a storyline. I've a friend in Denver who says he needs surgery on a knee injury. Not the one Chavo gave him - the other knee. He's had to put it off for the storylines, but he needs it now. Hence the defeat to Chavo. He should be back in 5/6 weeks.
Batista is actually 40! Weird i know. He's got a daughter who's around 16 years old. He's apparently spent years doing the indie circuits.
Hope this helps!

Chavo defeated Rey Mysterio in a "I Quit" match after repeatedly battering on Mysterio's exposed knee, using the Raw stage set. This storyline provided an on-camera explanation for Mysterio's real-life knee surgery, said to sideline Mysterio for about six months.

Trust me, I seriously doubt Mysterio is retiring. He is one of a kind, noone matches up to him. He won't retire, and he will get through with his knee. He'll come back around the same time as Mark Henry.

i think he will retire and then come after a while because he has been in WWE for quite a while and he hasn't had a break yet, so they just make up a story line that he is retireing, and then he will come back after a while just like chris benoit! his injury was fine after like 3 weeks and then he went on vacation with his family!

I really dont see Rey Mysterio retiring. He is going to have knee surgey and will be out for awhile. When he comes back he will as strong as ever.

I dun think he will quit soon... he'll have to take time off for his surgery after which i see him in Raw doing his usual stuff again... and Batista is indeed nearing 40...
