Im not sure about the usage of the phrase "at the other end of the spectrum" in these sentences....is it okay? Can you give me an example of a better way to write this sentence. Let me know of any grammatical mistakes as well.........((I am horrible at writing, I need help))

Love is also shown for pets when one dresses their pet up, feed it treats, and cuddle with them. At the other end of the spectrum, love also shows when an owner needs to put their pet to sleep so that their beloved pet will not suffer any more.

It is used correctly. Spectrum refers to any set of characteristics covering a range, akin to the visible spectrum from red to violet.

In the case the two ends are the easy, obvious things done for the dogs benefit (although I might argue against dressing your dog up) to the toughest possible, putting your dog down when it is time.

In the example, the pet is treated with respect and love when it is a healthy animal. The use of the term "at the other end of the spectrum" is probably a poor use of the phrase here. The writer intended to indicate that love would also have an owner of a pet put the pet to sleep at the point when the animal loses it's dignity.

The term could be better understood if you were using it to describe philosophies, political of course, a liberal would be at one end of the spectrum and a conservative would be at the other end of the spectrum.

Continuum is the concept the author meant.
In this case the continuum would be between birth and death. Usually people talk about a continuum between 2 concepts which are polar opposites -- like love and hate which has graduations in between the extremes -- not an ongoing process like life. To continue the example, indifference could be taken as the midpoint on a continuum between love and hate, and like would be somewhere in between indifference and love.

The author is trying to compare happy times playing with a pet versus the melancholy times caring for a pet's needs when ill health or injury require ending its life.
