I know most people are going to say none and that's obviously the safest and best answer, but the question is what is an acceptable level of alcohol consumption during pregnancy? Is it one glass per day?

Don't worry, i don't know any one that's pregnant. And if I did, I wouldn't let her drink when she was pregnant. I agree, it's not worth it. This question was on a DANTES test, thanks to all the inputs.

I have heard once you make it into your 2nd trimester that 4-8oz. a day is ok. Though I don't know that it's worth the risk. When I was pregnant with my daughter I had about 3 glasses of wine the entire pregnancy. In Italy I have heard that they drink a glass of wine a night, but I don't know if it's true.

Most people say 'none' because that is the correct answer. It also depends on your gestation. In the first and second trimester the baby is most susceptible to effects of alcohol on its development. Why would you risk harm to your baby for a drink of alcohol? Can't you wait a few months? If not, better seek treatment for your addiction. If you've ever seen a newborn come into this world with fetal alcohol syndrome or any other drug addiction, including nicotine, you would not be asking this question. I've seen it many times and cried many tears because an innocent child has to suffer for its mother's selfishness.

The acceptable level of Alcohol per day for a pregnant woman is NONE. Alcohol will cross to the baby. That is a tiny little baby and doesn't need alcohol to destroy it's development. NONE!!!!!! Unless you want her to give birth to a retard.

My doc told me that preg woman can have a single drink every 2-3 weeks because there hasn't been any study proving that low levels of alcohol would hurt a fetus.

Alcohol can severely deform a growing baby, it is hard to say whether one glass or several glasses could do damage, so why would you want to put your unborn baby at risk? Alcohol in a growing fetus can cause heart problems, liver problems, kidney problems as well as brain problems.

Without wishing to nag, its your choice.
