Are there any garden clubs or groups where i can go in and sit down and have someone answer a long list of garden question? The nursery people are so busy and the same at home depot. I live in Jamul Calif. I just need to sit and get some info. A lot of info?

MASTER GARDENER TO THE RESCUE

Jumal gateway to the boonies. (I am to hear about that remark.)

All your questions answered to your hearts content. You have your choice... drive down to the
County Opp. Center
5555 Overland Ave Buld 4
Univ of Calif
(858) 694-2860
MASTER GARDENER'S office and you can ask till the cows come home.... or 3PM. I suggest you call first to make sure that they can give you the time you need. Some days are busy,
others are not.

I said you had a second option. I live less then 10 minutes from Jumal. Why not let me come out there and pick you up and I'll take you over to the Jumal Cafe and buy you lunch. Bring your questions along and we can have a working lunch?

Either way you will have the undivided attention of a MASTER GARDENER to answer all your questions.

The L&G Center where I work has several seminars a year where you can ask all you want. Also there are several gardening groups that come in and set up tables to give out info and how to join. Check out some of your local L&G Centers. They probably have similar programs and contacts for gardening clubs, etc.

Quite frankly, the people at Home Depot are usually concerned with volume of plants sold, and are aware of basic general growing methods, since stocking is the main thing. And they are geared to hardware, not plants. I'm not knocking them; that's just the way it is. They supply a product that the public buys. A real nursery is where to go, since that is their livelihood and they want return business from informed customers. If you ask your questions through this website, I will be pleased to answer them. Just answered a couple, with long answers, so it's off-line for me now...

Look for a gardening group on HGTV.com. It is under the message board section. Also google "Dave's Garden". It is a community with TONS of info. You can post questions on both, and knowledgable (and also master gardeners) will answer them.

Put your long list of questions to us on Answers and we will answer them for you. I would go to another nursery if you can't get any of the staff to help you. Usually they should be only too happy to help.
