UK banks charge for everything

Citibank charges £20 ; Alliance Leicester charges £30 etc.. - This is for the money transfer via SWIFT.

Citibank offers free transfers from Citi UK to Citi US for certain branches in the US - if you do it online.

There is also the FX rate & spread. You may get operators (eg. Western Union or anyone else) saying you wont be charged on teh transfer but they may fleece you on the FX rate.

So check both the components - FX rate and the transfer charge for transfer before you decide.

Depends of the bank!
Usually only the USA bank will charge you.

If bank's charges are high then try: Western Union or MoneyGramm.
