I am horrified of them! I feel like im going to pass out just thinking of them and I get a really sick feeling in my stomach. Its like I wil never overcome this fear! My brother has to take a shot everynight for growth hormones and he has had them almost a year and to this day I still run outta the kitchen when hes getting it done. The thing that gets me the most is right where you arm bends like on the other side of the elbow and all those veins are there. I cant even touch that area because it makes me think of like IVs or something. My fear is horrible! Help me

I am 22 and in the last 3 years I have had about 200 needle sticks and I still get a bit nervous and sometimes upset but I do my best to relax, look away, and take slow breathes. Make sure the person doing the sticking knows you are afraid and they will do their best to help you, take a parent or friend with you to distract you or take a stress ball to play with. Having needles aren't fun but they don't have to be a traumatic experience.

The only way to overcome your fear is to face it, and come to realise that nothing bad will happen.
The next time you need to get a needle, you have to fully experience it for the fear to every subside. That means you have to look at it go in and out of you, and you can't tensen up or use any of your other coping strategies, because these are just a means of escape.
Don't waste your money on acupuncture or hypnosis or any of that junk. The way to overcome any fear is to experience it and realise that there are no negative outcomes (and you HAVE to experience, just knowing that nothing bad will happen isn't the same as fears are irrational).

talk to your dr, and maybe see a counselor about it. find some ways to relax your mind or distract yourself if you have to have injections or witness them.
I'm not afraid of needles but I pass out whenever I have blood drawn.... i guess its called a veso vegal reaction (not sure if its spelled right). People always tease me that I am afraid of needles, but I'm not, I dont do well watching others have shots done either... good luck

Don't worry about it. I'm a vet and went to the VA for my annual flu shot a couple of days ago. The gal who gave me a shot said that she had two "jumpers" that morning.
Get over it. These were people who faced death in combat zones. Grit your teeth and pretend that you have some balls.

this might sound totally wacko but maybe take a sewing needle and lightly graze it against your skin... maybe it will show you that it's not that scary.
