If there's not a no parking sign then fight it but don't ignore it because it will grow like a snowball going downhill.

Don't give them the satisfaction just yet. First, protest the ticket. This of course will require you to come up with some pretty solid proof/reasons as to why you were parked there in the first place. But if that doesn't work, yeah, I'd adivse you to go ahead and pay that ticket. I don't know where you live, but I refused to pay a ticket once (for like 6 months) and had my license revoked as a result. It just ain't worth it.

Fight it but you will have to take the day off of work. Say the law is being applied selectively and therefore unfairly. Make sure they know there is no sign there. Cops got to write their quota of tickets so I think you were prob were the victim of a cop or meter maid's trying to get in their quota at the end of the month.
Write a letter stating your case when you send it in to where ever and they may drop it.

There should be an option to appear in court. I did this when I got a silly ticket once and they waived the ticket.

Fight it in court. If you refuse to pay it, they can put out a warrant for your arrest and thow you in jail until you do pay it.
