I have Verizon. I think there are advantages. I have four phones in the family with shared minutes and most of my other family and friends have Verizon. There is no charge for nights and weekends and in-network calls (from one Verizon phone to another) and you can get unlimited text messaging for a small fee, so there are never any "surprises" when the bill arrives.
I would suggest going on each carriers web site and comparing plans. Verizon works best for me, but your needs may be different.

T-Mobile is an OK deal- It has much better plans than verizon, and some would argue that the phones are better as well. T-Mobile doesn't have very good service, though. Personally, I think that Verizon is the best deal because it has great service, pretty good phones, and ok plans...
Remember, a plan is only good if you actualy get service.
