Goldfish need a minimum of 10 gallons each, so if by big you mean 20 gallons or more then yes you can get him a friend. Make sure you have a good filter too, one that filters all the water at least 10 times an hour. So if your tank is 20 gallons it would have to do at least 200 gph.

They have a great forum there and the people are really nice. They will help you with whatever you need to know or if you just want to look up some more stuff on your own.

It's fine as long as it's fresh water. You can get another fish for your tank but make sure that it "gets along" with goldfish. Buy some goldfish food and feed it once a day jsuta pinch.

personally l think a big tank counts.once l had two fish and the one looked kind of depressed because l had put them in a thin tube-like glass.you won't believe it but the other one (it was more vivid) run with force against the glass, like he was trying to brake it.the depressed one died and then l thought of buying a second one.you should know that all aquarium-fish are not compatible.you should buy a second one but of the same species with the one you have.if you have a gold-fish,buy a gold-fish.l bought then a small little black one (flashy) but they didn't get along (it was aggressive). In all the three of them didn't live for over 2-3 months, but a friend of mine had gold-fish for like 5 years.important : you should buy the little colored rocks that are thrown in the bottom layer because they pass time pleasantly and don't realize lack of space.l hope l helped

You sound like you've done everything right, and I think your fish would love a buddy.
The worst thing you can do is over feed your fish, so a pinch of fish food a day is plenty.

Sounds fine. He doesn't need a companion due to his short attention-span, and babies might happen as it's difficult to see gender on a fish. There is plenty of food made just for goldfish in petstores too.
