What happens in my brain scientifically to make me "see red" and go blank in a violent rage rather than use rationality. If i'm given the chance to calm down a bit I can rationalize but not immediately. What's happening in my brain to make me do that? Why can't I just rationalize right off the bat?

understanding that u have a problem is the first step. so, you now need to act on the situation to releave the burden. your brain has adapted to a series of violent reactions from someone that is close to you, that u probably look up to and admire. we dont always see the cause just the problem. these occurrences have your subconscious trained to act the same way. u will need to acknowledge the source and realize that that person is just human and didnt mean to teach u to act like that. talking to a therapist might help.

You are bypassing all the rational responses and going straight to the last resort. It requires some therapy. Do it now. Don't wait until you hurt someone. This is great that you are aware and wanting to get help. Go now.

There are too many considerations to give this one answer. Anger can be caused by many things, such as an unhealthy family environment, bipolar disorder, diabetes.... you name it. You need to see a medical doctor to rule out a physical problem, and if it isn't physical, then see a counselor. If you're uncomfortable with counseling, there are many self-help resources out there in libraries, bookstores and on the Net.

You may need meds but you should also take Anger management classes to help with the rage.
It is a trigger in the brain and many times it is hereditary. But it can be controlled.
Talk to a doctor right way.
