In a word no. We must remember all the advantages players of this age have as compared to the era of Pele. Advanced coaching techniques, better training facilities and fitness awareness, more advanced equipment all designed to benefit the players. Players of Pele's era played raw football and that is something to be respected.
Edit: Maradona Jr, you are right also, but imagine how great Pele would have been had he had these benefits. Given those advantages, he would score against anyone.

Pele has to be regarded as the best player ever. No matter what ronaldo does he will not be considered better in most peoples eyes. It's the same thing in all sports nobody will ever be as good as gretzky or jordan because they dominated their sport at the right time. ronaldo is playing in a physically and technically superior time of the game it's impossible for him to be able to achieve three world cups. I'm sure if they played against each other in their prime ronaldo would be better because his speed and control on the ball is better than anyone had during the 60's. but comparatively pele was superior than all those around him and ronaldo is marginally better than say messi, kaka, essien, etc.

He is better, all the things that andygurl said is truth, but it goes the same for defenders and goalkeepers, I doubt that Pele could score against Milan, Chel$ki, ''old'' Juventus...... today, Ronaldo did!!!!
@fugutastic
Ronaldo floped in Seria A because of an INJURY and that is exactly my point, go and watch some Pele's DVD's and you will see that no one never touched him, all they did, was falling down...... it's NO WAY that Pele could score so many goals today!!!!!

Make me laugh. They play more matches now in the World Cup Finals thanks to the round of 16. They let in weaker teams. In Pele's day only 16 made the Finals.
Pele scored over 1,000 goals in his a career! He was declared a "national treasure" by the Brazilian govt. He basically turned North America onto soccer...well, for a short burst but made the sport at least an incredibly popular recreational one and the USA women's and men's teams' World Cup successes.
Give me a break. Ronaldo flopped in Serie A and I cannot think of Pele flopping ever bar being kicked to bits in 1966 which was not his fault.

Ronaldo is getting to the level of Pele but I don't think he will be as good as him even by the time he retires.

I don't think so the guy is a good player and has skill on the pitch but he is surrounded by so much talent, that Pele never really had the opportunity to play with.

pele is a legend.....he was an AMAZING football player, and still is. it doesnt matter if ronaldo or anyone else is as good as him; they will never compare to him. one of the reasons he is viewed as such a talented player is because in his time, true, raw talent just didnt show up everyday. also, today, there are many skilled and unique players, but in pele's time, there werent so many remarkable players.
