The second answer you received is definitely not a scientific answer as the convention of recording dates from the supposed birth of Jesus was set up hundreds of years after he was born.

I seriously doubt if Jesus did not live and die around 2,000 years ago but there is no scientific way to prove it. The historical evidence we have is the enormous importance that some people in the western world place on the religion founded and designed by St. Paul after Jesus died. But that is hearsay evidence and would not even be allowed in a Court of Law as irrefutable evidence.

Ehh... I'm not sure what's your question here. But I must tell you that science doesn't really PROVE anything. Proof is too certain a thing for science. Science works in a way based on observations - in an ideal case, many observations - and making reasonable (inductive) inferences or generalisations from the observations. But this mechanism can't really prove things, only confirm or disprove them. Even if observations fit neatly with an idea - such as the wave nature of light - there can always come something which turns the whole thing upside down. We now know that light is much more than just waves.

As for you dear Jesus, I think his existence is accepted as a historical fact (by the way, I'm not at all sure that to "prove" his existence is science's business...), I guess the "historical Jesus" article of Wikipedia might be a good read about him.

If you expect science to support your faith, I think you have some misconceptions about the relationship of science and religion. The basic ideas of religion - existence of god/s, moral questions - are outside the scope of science, they cannot be investigated with scientific methods. If you want to believe in whatever religion - you are free to do so, science has no right to say that you are wrong (unless you take genesis word by word or something like that), but it can't tell you that you are right either.

We haven't reached the place in science, technology or discovery where we can give a proof of our faith and the miracles associated with it. Even theories of evolution.. what we are not as a physical being but as a thinking human being, cannot be explained by scientific theories but we are thinking human beings. No evolution theory explains that why animals can't think the way we human's do. Why does each human being have a distintive personality. what determines his personality..these are facts..but there are no answers... faith too has no answers..someone who believes cannot prove it to someone else... can anyone express love scientifically..i know the feeling is to do with some harmones..but why do these harmones kick in only when we meet someone in particular..

Similarly its about jesus and all the religions in the world..or i would say faith... its a feeling probably more than that..but cannot be explained in terms of equation atleast till this day.. maybe someday we will find a proof of it.. and faith will not be a faith anymore but a fact

It is well known that the last ten or twenty years have been marked by a determined assault upon the truth of the Virgin birth of Christ. In the year 1892 a great controversy broke out in Germany, owing to the refusal of a pastor named Schrempf to use the Apostles' Creed in baptism because of disbelief in this and other articles. Schrempf was deposed, and an agitation commenced against the doctrine of the Virgin birth which has grown in volume ever since. Other tendencies, especially the rise of an extremely radical school of historical criticism, added force to the negative movement. The attack is not confined, indeed, to the article of the Virgin birth. It affects the whole supernatural estimate of Christ--His life, His claims, His sinlessness, His miracles, His resurrection from the dead. But the Virgin birth is assailed with special vehemence, because it is supposed that the evidence for this miracle is more easily got rid of than the evidence for public facts, such as the resurrection. The result is that in very many quarters the Virgin birth of Christ is openly treated as a fable. Belief in it is scouted as unworthy of the twentieth century intelligence. The methods of the oldest opponents of Christianity are revived, and it is likened to the Greek and Roman stories, coarse and vile, of heroes who had gods for their fathers. A special point is made of the silence of Paul, and of the other writings of the New Testament, on this alleged wonder.

Hi:

First, religion is built on Faith. Once we start doubting that, the religion would weaken. Do not let that happen. There was a chance of this happening after the DaVinci code was published. But faith won, as it should have. In fact, tests like these tend to strengthen beliefs in oneself and in ones faith. In a world that is deteriorating... lack of love, violence... faith in God binds people together, and helps people tide over difficult times. All you believers will know what I am talking about. I am not a Christian, I follow all major religions cos faith in God gives me inner strength.

Science cannot prove the existence of the Gods of other religions either.... the innumerable Gods of the Hindus, Allah or any of the others. So why single out Jesus and ask for proof?

So, my dear asker, quit questioning faith. have faith... in ANY God, if you so choose.

Cheers!!

There's probably no way to scientifically prove that Jesus ever existed. The most probable way to prove such a thing would be through archeology.

I remember hearing that there was a Roman record found that contained the execution details for Jesus. It was a very dry document that gave a brief description of him, his name, and his "crime". I don't remember where I heard it though.

Certainly not!!

Jesus was supposed to be a thorn in the side of the Romans. There is not even one reference to him in their records. On the other hand there were a number of other Jews at the same time claiming to be the Messiah and they are all well documented!!

The Bible was cobbled together from a handful of dead sea scrolls. It is said that the tremendous amount of scrolls found at the same time are deeply at variance with those chosen for the bible. Where are these scrolls? Locked in a Vatican vault and why cant anyone verify the story? No one - that is right - NO ONE is allowed access to them. Not even religious scholars.

You miss the point however - Christianity is a faith. If your faith is so weak you need scientific proof - you are in deep religious trouble my friend!!!!!!

The history of Jesus and his teachings had made a lot of changes in the world, changes in attitudes of individuals to rise of big nations.

I would say it is a scientific evidence, a man who lived 2000 yrs ago made these differences with his words which is still difficult to explain fully, his existence and his teachings are genuine.
