Like lifting off a huge weight

The fear of coming out is actually worse than the act of coming out. Well I started coming out of the closet about 10 years ago. I started by testing the waters online, strangers I didn't know at all. And for 8 years I never admitted I was a lesbian. I said I was bi for a long time so I could fool myself that I wa being honest. I would be letting my friends and family know I was attracted to women but then quickly write it off by saying I was also attracted to men so it was nothing to worry about.
It has been a year and a half that I have been fully out of the closet, I finally told everyone. Its just like pulling off a big bandage, finally being honest, its like you can breathe again.

At first you feel like a weight has been lifted which is very liberating, and you gradually increase your self confidence. Instead of worrying about what everyone else thinks of you, you trust your own instincts more. The only thing I would change about when I came out was to have done it earlier.

When I came out to my family and friends, it felt like a giant weight had been lifted off me. It was a great feeling and I've never regreted it.

When both of my parents met, they met a swingers party, so coming out of the closet wasn't something I had to go thru. I see myself being born sexually independent.

Scary and freeing at the same time. Scary because you'll find out some friends aren't friends at all, other people who you just KNEW would have issues don't...it's all very surprising. It 'freeing because you don't have to hide, pretend and lie anymore. Overall there are far more positives than negatives.

Honestly it feels like ****, when I came out I got rideculed from left to right... Arguements went up in the air, tears came down, Everything just goes bad... But give them time, and they will understand... Honestly it's not easy coming out... But it's worth it... And again if you do, just give them time...

I just came out to myself, not to my friends or family yet. And it feels like a load lifted off my back, good luck.

its like finishing a really long final exam in a stuffy lecture hall with uncomfortable chairs, and then walking outside and getting your first breath of crisp fresh air.
