I don't know why i'm just thinking about this. but last year i had a big pool party. i invited half the school. about 3 days after i sent the invitations out one of my friends called. as it turns out the day of my party was the day of her real birthday. she said she had plans, not 4 her b-day though, and that she couldn't come. what should i have done. i had the party anyway since i had already sent out the invites and it was a blast. Now i'm really close w/ that friend and we're cool, but should i have done something differently?

If you didn't know it was her birthday then you didn't do anything wrong. By the time you did find out you had already sent out all the invitations. What could you have really done? There is a lot of time in expense in planning parties and it's not the end of the world that you happen to have your party on the day someone else is having a birthday. Had you changed the day, no doubt someone else would have had a conflict. You can't please everyone, all the time.

What u should of done was cancel the pool party for another day or instead of making a pool party just make it a happy b-day party at her house.

How could this be mean? You did'nt know it was her b,d, The invitations were out, you had to have the party. The fact that you are good friends now, proves that she was cool with everything.

I think you are a sweetheart! by even thinking like this.
Well we all live and learn don't we...and as you said you had already sent-out-the invites.

Well it looks like you really couldn't do much?

As long as you didn't know it was her birthday...and I get that feeling you didn't.
So tell her maybe you both can go have yourselfs a nice meal.
See if you can pay, and sounds to me shes cool.
But your cool too...because you do care!
