need to delete program which is possibly a virus

Thanx everybody got it working ok now. Beware of something going under name of project1as was an adware virus disguised under that name!!!!!!
Ended up with over 600 zipfiles that were not requested!!!!!
Removed now but was a real pain!

If its XP, 2000 or 98 hit F8 on start up

you can go to add n remove in control panel and remove something you have downloaded.. update and run your anti.. that should remove the virus.. my comp starts in safe mode by clicking the f 5 a few times, just as my comp is ready 2 open.. so you might have 2 try f 8 and f 5, to see which one works 4 you.. bummer eh..

You can either hit the F8 key or the left CTRL button on startup.

when you start up the computer hit f8 before it gets to the log in

well you restart the computer and as its coming up tap the f8 key

PRESS F8 AND ON THE SCREEN YOU WILL SEE SAFE MODE .
USE THE ARROW KEYS TO HIGHTLIGHT PRESS ENTER AND YOUR IN.
