It might sound mean, but I just come out and say what it is they have done or said that is upsetting me.

I find that an ominous anonymous note (try saying *that* five times in a row) usually gets the point across.
(Am i a coward? You bet! But a well-meaning one.)

if they are good friends the truth hurts sometimes but is necessary - if your just soso friends- make up a story with the same things in it and let them work it out- you know like- this guy did this in there with you know- and see what they say- but i prefer to be brutally honest!!!

I guess it depends on the situation, and the friend. But I am usually so concerned about hurting their feelings, that it just about kills me. I must be honest, though, as I know no other way.

I am the evil person you tells them before they do it so that I never have this discussion. I am not going to have them crying over spilt milk, nor am I going to later tell them I told you so. My advice is free. My judgment is costly.

You take a breath & start talking. Too bad if they don't like what they hear.
