Well it is for the kids so why not have it on the weekend or even have the school day after off that way the kids can have more time and not have to worry about getting up the next day. Come on how well do you think they are doing in school with all that candy in them anyways? It is only one day out of the year. Why not make them stay in school for one of those other holidays that is not that big of a thing to the kids.

Halloween was a day of importance, celebration for some, and observation for others, long before trick or treating came about.
Halloween, or All Hallows Eve, should be held on the last day of October, the 31st, as it is meant to be, or else it would not be Halloween any longer it would be something else all together.
If it rains on Halloween it's not like we just go out the next night. It's not like a school inservice that can be switched around and moved for our liking and convience.
About Halloween:
The word itself, "Halloween," actually has its origins in the Catholic Church. It comes from a contracted corruption of All Hallows Eve. November 1, "All Hollows Day" (or "All Saints Day"), is a Catholic day of observance in honor of saints. But, in the 5th century BC, in Celtic Ireland, summer officially ended on October 31. The holiday was called Samhain (sow-en), the Celtic New year.

Absolutely!! Those of us with kids would love to have an all-day affair of Halloween - to go to several neighborhoods to go trick-or-treating, carnivals, events, etc...
Start it on a Friday night & go into Saturday...that would be cool. Plus, it gives that "day of rest" in there to recoup before work/school again on Monday AM!
Those are for the celebrations. All Hallow's Eve can still be recognized on 10/31. It pre-empts All Saints Day.
We can celebrate our birthdays on different days...it doesn't change what day we were born on.

No, that ruins it, keep it on Halloween, or it should have been the last Saturday of October, like Thanksgiving floats. And the schools should change the day after to a parent teacher conference or a half day at the end of the day.

Halloween is All Hallow's Eve, or that day before All Saints Day or All Hallow's Mass which is November 1.
So if you want to change Halloween you will have to convince the Pope to change it.
