I'm not a kid anymore and this problem is starting to matter. I feel like almost all my past relationships have either started out as friendships (and then "progressed"), or have been with people that I just wasn't all that attracted to. If I get so shy/nervous that I go blank and lose my sense of self whenever I talk to someone I'm strongly attracted to, how will I every be able to start a real relationship with someone I REALLY like?

The problem is (according to this (decent) book I'm reading), is that you're either focusing on:
A: yourself
B: others
C: money or work
D: famkily.
E: spelling

You need to center your life on PRINCIPLES.
(And either I haven't been paying attention or I haven't gotten that far in the book. BRB... Can't find it in the book.)

How about "integrity"? Treat people fairly and speak the truth.
I heard a quote once that I really liked: "If you have integrity then nothing else matters. And if you don't have integrity then nothing else matters." If you have integrity then the way you handle ALL guys will be well-balanced and dependable. You will know it and they will know it. And you will not worry about how things go around (or not around) them.

the clarification why you have this difficulty is through fact you're actually not attempting to electrify the persons you're actually not fascinated in. merely loosen up, and be your self. while you're shy and demanding, you mustn't be observed to boot as while you're being your self, speaking, guffawing all that stable stuff.

its probably due to the fact
when u are with someone ur attractd to u get
get the fear u might not act well and lose that person's
interest....if u coud relax more
and dont feel as much emotional investment it woud get better
