There is a whole race of one legged pixies living under washing machines! They take one of your socks every time you do a wash. Eventually when they have enough they sell them to the Old cobbler in exchange for one shoe each, I don't know why the old cobbler wants one sock though :-/

yes they are disposable water dissolves .they were invented for the man that don't like socks for Christmas that's to keep both parties happy. The buyer is happy and so is the person that don't want them happy. They are trying to clone people like the socks .You can stuff your partner in the washer and whoosh there gone.All part of thee through away society You re going in the washer tonight matey Ill be glad to be shut of you .Oo no not the washer .the old saying put a sock in it .

Its the sock monster !!!!!! You have to buy a sock bag,they have them at wal-mart for 3 dollars. Its just a net bag with a zipper you put all your socks in there zip it up and toss it in the washer.They get just as clean as normal,the only difference is the sock monster doesn't get them!!!!!

No way, someone else who loses single socks and never the pair. My washing machines def eat them, either that or someone steals single socks from my clothes line!

haven't you read the kids book series "the oddies"?
all the odd socks get taken to odd world by the odd fairy and have adventures.
at the end they have the choice whether to come back or not which is why you sometimes find socks you thought you had lost!!!!!!!

I feel your problem! Maybe there are little people inside your dryer that come and take one of you socks?! In other words I have no idea why! But it bothers the crap out of me!!

I found one in my pillow case once. Turn out all your bedding - it might be wrapped round a sheet or the quilt cover. (Sorry to be so damn practical - I liked the sock fairies, too!!!).
