I was listening to a woman talk about all those african and middle eastern women who get there genitals mutilated for religious reasons. She then went on to say how men are responcible for all this and that men should just accept womens bodys the way they are. I agree. But how can you sit there and blame it all on men when 90% of American boys genitals are mutilated during circumcision. Why cant women accept mens bodys the way they are. I see a double standard here. And although some men support circumcision, women have the baby and ultimatly are the ones who have to choose if it happens.

Female genital mutilation is more crippling than male genital mutilation (circumcision), but that does not make male circumcision okay! Fortunately it is becoming less common, but it's horrid for the poor babies who have it done. There is no medical, hygienic, or other valid reason for routine circumcision, and those women who thing it looks better are shallow beyond belief!

It really frosts me when some twit says it has to be done so he'll look like his daddy. Well, little kids won't notice, and Daddy should keep it in his pants around adolescents anyway. Why would he be wagging it around so the kids could compare?

I'm glad my husband's parents had the intelligence to leave him WHOLE.

For those whose religions require it, I would suggest noncompliance with nonsensical religious customs.

I understand what you are trying to say but you are comparing apples and oranges. Female circumcision as it's called it out and out mutilation of the female's sex organs where the clitoris is removed and sometimes most of the outer lips of the vagina and the vagina is sewn shut. When that is done the women become crippled almost and have to be torn open every time they have sex or give birth. That cannot be compared to male circumcision because their sex organs work perfectly well after it is done.
I do say that the child should be given the choice of whether he wants the circumcision when he gets older but there is no way that you can compare the two.

the reason the genitals mutilation in africa/middle east is blamed on men, is because of how graphic and destructive it is. women have died because they don't use any anesthesia or clean tools and women die from infection. our reproductive systems are just slightly larger than a guys-you know, we get to carry babies around for 9 months. plus, the female circumsizing is mostly enforced by men. in the us, the male population is about 50/50. half are circumsized, half aren't. the reason for circumsizing is for hygeine anyhow. the reason for the female mutilations is to make sex painful. their reasoning is to control their women and subdue them. that's why women are pissed off about that. and by the way, more and more boys aren't being cirucumsized in the us. course, they have some serious filth issues but this is a totally different thing you're talking about. boys foreskin is usually numbed and also even newborns have pain meds. the countries these mutilations are done in are poor and dirty and if you were familiar with how a woman's uterus is situated, you would be able to see how it can lead to infection of her entire body. boys, sorry, your lives aren't endangered by a little snip!

There is a big difference in those two issues. Circumcision comes from a Jewish tradition. The tradition started because getting rid of that extra skin reduces the chance of illness and the Jewish traditions are all based upon health.

They did not eat pork or shellfish because both could make you sick easily. These traditions protected people from these illnesses. In fact, today there are doctors that still feel that circumcision is much safer for men and that extra skin is not really important.

The mutilation in Africa comes from male created traditions that females were forced to submit to. The men created these traditions and inflicted them on women as they saw fit.

Take care,
Troy

The difference between young girls having their genitals mutilated and boys having a circumcision:

Genital mutilation means the female will never be able to enjoy sexual relations.

Circumcision does not prevent a man from enjoying sex.

The real double standard is that men want women mutilated so they can control their sexuality, while the men themselves are dangerously promiscuous. Sorry to break your bubble.

I actually agree with you. Women can do a lot of damage to a man's penis, just like you showed in the question where you told your husband he has a small penis. That cut deeper than any knife.
