There isent too much difference between mens amd womens boards other than womens boards are usually smaller and narrower, due to women generally being smaller and lighter and having smaller feet. Alot of women nowadays ride mens boards and many brands now sell certain models as unisex boards, as they can be ridden by men or women.
As far as the right lenght of board to buy many people advise you when you are buying your first board to buy one that comes up to your chin height, but remember this is just a guide and by no means is this rule set in stone. As other factors like weight and the style of riding you want to do also make a difference to the length of board you ride. Most people i know ride boards smaller than there chin height as they are easyer to turn and throw arouned, but its all personal preference really.

I snowboard on a women's board and have tried my guy friend's boards. I don't know the technical aspects behind it but, women have a different center of balance then men (women at hips and men at shoulders) and snowboards take that into account.

I like my women's snowboard a lot better than the men's boards I've tried. I'm not sure if it's just my board, but mine is pretty flexible. It's the only board I've owned and I bought it when I was first learning to snowboard so it's sorta a beginner board, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

A Women's snowboard will typically have a different flex than a men's snowboard. The ratio of weight to height is different for a women. Think about it: a women usually weighs far less than a man of the same height. Also, some women's boards are designed narrower for quicker edge transfer. Then of course we have the differnce in graphics.
