I had one that did that, the oil pump pickup screen was clogged. I replaced it and the pump & everything was fine. What is causing the ticking is the hydraulic lifters collapsing due to the lack of oil pressure. If you run it that way you will need a new engine very soon.

Myself, there is little doubt. A 70's style ford. they have an particularly no longer undemanding chassis, although the guidance might properly be a touch squirrely. you're questioning precise with regard to the 360 ci, yet you ought to evaluate a 390 ci, it quite is a dazzling motor. I even have had many 70's era autos, the fords are my first decision for a no longer undemanding artwork truck. I do additionally think of that jointly as the chevys are stable autos too, they're greater for street, and entertainment as they're now. you have in all likelihood opened a can of worms with this question thinking how strongly opinionated individuals are over ford and chevy.

The oil pump is probably shot and the loud ticking is the lack of lubrication to the bearings and you probably spun a bearing so the motor probably needs to be rebuilt and new oil pump installed
