I"ve been all through the process , was turned down twice and made the mistake of taking less and less substantial jobs even trying college to learn a desk job. Eventually my illness overwhelmed me and work wasn't an option. I waited about 18 months for a hearing on my 3rd application . Although over 30% below the their own guidelines that it should have been a given I was denied . However at the hearing it was a cut and dry case and the social security administration was clearly wrong and a decision was made on the spot to allow it . I hope you get it and you may but I can't predict these people with any degree of certainty , I've been lied to and caught them so many times it's quite ridiculous . I would contact your state representative and have him or her inquire that's what I did just to let them know of an outside interest in my case. I'm inclined to think you'll be approved and should hear from your local office , as you know by now the are so painfully slow it's terrible. I did receive back money from the day I applied the last time which was 3 and a half years of payments which are mailed in 3 separate checks for some reason. If you have any other questions I'll try and answer if you email me. Good luck !
Sidenote : the other answers may be correct on the 18 months , however I received back payments for my wife and daughter 6 also so it added up to more than I would have received alone.

Are the kids disable? If not, don't bother taking money from the government. I know a mother that get pregnanted by 3 men and get money from government for kids. All kids are not disable. Who is more right? You or her? You the same. My mom never apply for government because I am a kids and I was disabled. How about knowing that you are taking $900 from a parent with disabled kids but can't get money because you were hogging it. Federal reserve is not an unlimited supply of money. I don't believe that a non-disabled kids should be allow to get money benefit. Period. Disabled kids should be supported. The benefit for disabled kids is to help the medicare and other misc.

more likely the denied you. Appeal it.
My mom has been going thru that for the over 5 years and finally has gotten an actual hearing for Nov. 7th.
They pretty much just screw you and cross their finger that you will die before they grant you SSD.
Good Luck and keep bugging them!
Keep a journal of when you feel like crap!
Get witnesses of your condition, including doctors.
My mom cannot not work. Not to be gross but she bleeds and runs to the bathroom every hour. She has been hospitalized and cannot drive or walk for long periods. She needs surgery to repair her intestines and stomach, which has gotten worse.
She has gotten so bad but she needs insurance for medications, which without insurance costs over 2,000 a month and is too proud to go on medicare and stay home. We kids just don't have the extra money to pay for all of this from our pockets.
good luck!!!!!!!

Unfortunately there is no way to know the answer until you receive the notification. Usually you do get two notices of denied before you go to court. Also, IF you have received two notices, court is where you usually win.
Good Luck.
Peace.

This is all standard. The decison they were referring was probably the denial. Sometimes they reverse decisions without a hearing. Don't worry. Let your lawyer handle it. He's not the problem; he' don't get paid until you do.

you should be contacting your lawyer.........how can anyone answer your question when they dont kow the specifics of your case? it isnt always necessary for you to go to hearing. i didnt go to mine and was approved anyway. there is something called :social security blue book put in your search box. if you dont fit any of the criteria on there you will definately NOT be approved. good luck!
