Wow! This is a very difficult question to answer. I've played the guitar for over 40 years now (yeah, I'm old) and it has never occurred to me to consider this question, but I'm gonna try.

I like the way it feels. You become so intimately involved with the strings (with both hands) that they become like good friends. Guitars are beautiful to hear, beautiful to look at, and like so many other musicians, I can immediately transport myself to another time and space just by picking one up. That is MAJOR relief from stress.

As a child, my father once told me to keep up with my music because "you'll be a hit at parties." He was absolutely right.

This is the short version of my answer and I'm going to stop here because the thing I really keep coming back to is just that I REALLY like the way that it feels.

Look at it this way, almost everyone in the world loves music, regardless of the music. And some people are blessed with the gift
of giving music to others. I imagine its the same with cooks, and any other hobby/profession (varying levels). Me in particular have been playing guitar forever, it makes me happy, its fun, entertaining to yourself and others, inspires creativity and emotion. Anyone can start playing and take it from me lessons are for chumps :)

Just hearing the sound makes you feel good. I use my guitar as a sense of expressing myself and letting me relax and think about different situations in my life. Guitar can be really calming,

That's kinda like asking what did I like best about a passionate kiss. You are completely involved and everything else is in the background. And when you are finished, you just want to do it again.
