There is Walmart; but the quality of the clothing can be questionable sometimes. I like the Avenue, but the selection is quite right sometimes. Lane Bryant catalog is better than the store, and I was shocked by how good the customer service was. There is Fashion Bug, but again, The quality of the clothes again. I discovered Igigi.com online, and they have beautiful clothing if you are looking for evening wear and the like.

I do frequent Catherines. I mix it up. I am not a teenager, and I am not a grand mother. I am always looking for the outfit that expresses me. Just keep in mind: Plus size girls do NOT like good on a discount. PLEASE don't go cheap, for the sake of being cheap. Sometimes cheap don't look good. If you can only afford a few quality pieces, work them, until you get the next batch. The goal is to make a memorable impression (not because your clothes looked crazy.)

Sign up for Lane Bryant's mailing list. I get coupons all year long, which helps make it more affordable for me. Also, check out the sales racks. I find pants all of the time for $20 and shirts for cheaper. I can't buy stuff even at discount chains for that price, most of the time. Certain times of the year they have bigger sales as well, and I try to stock up on pants and shirts then. Just keep your eye out.

Fashion Bug is cheaper, but their clothes, in my opinion, are obviously cheap. Poor cut and fabrics. Target has a fairly decent plus-sized section -- if you are going for a good bargain for your dollar, go there. I don't like Wal-Mart's though because of the styling of most of their clothes. Also, if you go to your local department stores and check the sales racks, sometimes you can get some great stuff for dirt cheap. Check out the nearest outlet mall too. Lane Bryant now has an outlet, and if you can find a Gap outlet, they carry sizes up to XXL though try to look for sales there, because they can be pricey. Some of the other outlets carry larger clothing too, but the Gap is my stand by.

The best thing I can recommend is to never, ever -- unless it is essential (like a good suit) -- buy something at full price. There are always sales and sales racks. Join the mailing lists of the places that you like and consider getting their credit cards -- you get more savings that way.
