A person desire to reach a point that is 3.49km from her present location&in a direction that is 35 degree north of east.However,she must travel along streets that go either north-south or east-west.WHAT IS THE MINIMUM DISTANCE SHE COULD TRAVEL TO REACH HER DESTINATION?

3.49[(sin(35*)+cos(35*)]km

U can form a right angled triangle
u know the two angles now and the hypotenuse
now apply sin formula
sin90/3.49=sin35/x=sin55/y
by applying this formula u will get value of x and y as
x=2.00178
y=2.8588
total distance travelled by the person =4.86km

draw the diagram of the person's destination,

x= 3.9*cos35
y= 3.9*sin 35

x= 3.195km
y=2.2369km
that is the shortest distant to get to her final destination.
3.195km on the east- west street, and 2.2369km on hte north- south street.
