Haven't you tried department stores and supermarkets? I thought these must be the most obvious places to try for temporary jobs over the Christmas season. I've heard that some department stores hire extra people for Christmas and sometimes offer permanent posts after Christmas if they are happy with the temp's performance. How about Christmas craft fairs, markets...? Then there are shops that are only open for the Christmas and New Year trade, like those that sell calendars and Christmas presents? Good luck and Merry Christmas!

Look around at places that will be busy at Christmas - lots of stores will be. Even supermarkets take on temps to help customers pack their bags to get them through the checkouts faster. Making things and selling them for Christmas may be a good idea. Some people buy fancy handmade cards and wreaths to put on their front doors. Try to think what people want at Christmas they will be spending - try to take some of that money.

Try the stores, they are always after extra help during the holidays. Sainsbury's, Woolthworth's, Asda, Boots. Anything like that. It's usually shelf stacking, and if you're prepared to work at night, it'll be easier to get a job at the superstores as they tend to re-stodk the shelves in the middle of the night when the place is virtually empty, or closed.
Good Luck.

Apart from the obvious Supermarkets, stores etc, the try registering with staff agencies who will point you in the right direction according to your skills for a temporary Christmas job. They usually tend to give you a test to find out what skills you have, but my advice is to produce a CV and then distribute it or even post it on websites like Monster and Totaljobs.com and then hopefully they might look for you.
Good luck

very soon the local retailers will be looking for christmas temps. Tesco would be good to try or asda. Samuels the jewelers also take on christmas temps as do boots etc. Good luck in your hunt.

Places like Toys-R-Us, B&Q etc. all look for temps at this time of year, in fact they have already started, so get a move on!

Go to the local town and look around for signs in the window. Check for paper rounds etc that might have vacancies and ask at the job centre.

You could work at a promotional event for Christmas. Contact a shopping centre or your local council for details of upcoming events.
