Nortons is the very worse junk on the market for many years. An each year they continue to get worse. One would think they would learn from prior experience. McAfee, is the same. Plus the are resource hogs.
About "bearshare", or "Bit Torrent", or any other P3P share files, they will destroy your system with use. (So you will not have to worry about which uses more resources). Sharing files will give you trojans, spyware, adware, malware, etc. etc.
If you value your investment in your pc, please consider staying away from file sharing.
Even an exchange of files over Yahoo Messenger or MSN Messenger can come to you with all types of virus. You really need excellent security with realtime protecton scanner in the background that really works.

Norton wins hands down.
Everything I've read on "resource hogs" says that both Norton and McAfee are major problems. I dumped Norton Systemworks a few months ago and am glad to be rid of it.
If you need a good, FREE, antivirus program go to http://www.grisoft.com and download and install the AVG Antivirus free version. Lots of good reviews on it and it's not a resource hog.
You can also go to http://www.download.com and read the publisher's description, the tech reviews, and the user reviews. You can also download it there.
I haven't used Bearshare in years so I have no opinion there.

Norton may slow down your system, if you have less than 256 megabytes of ram and if the version is upwards of 2003
Bearshare wont be a problem because it doesnt run in the background and can be switched off whenerver it is not needed, so it does not take up memory.
An alternative to Norton is AVG Antivirus.

they both do.. norton is junk and bearshare is knowen 4 viruses and trojans.. put your trust into AVG.. it will protect your comp like a mean dog.. use spybot.com as a side kick.. both are free and not a trial.. do not skip read when downloading avg.. because you will end up with a 4 hr. scan, when there is a option at avg..to scan faster.. try and find a better music site.. bummer eh
