The current thermostat has these wires:

W - white
B - blue
G - green
R - red
O - orange
Y - yellow
X - not used (connector, but no wire)

and my new digital thermostat has these options:

Rh/Rc (came in box with jumper installed to connect)
W
Y
G

My question is where do I put all of these wires into my new thermostat?

Thanks!

Turns out its a heat pump (which i knew) but didn't realize i needed a specific 2 stage thermostat. Thanks for the answers (especially the correct one) so I will be giving you the best answer. Thanks man.

Sounds like you have a heat pump instead of a gas furnace. You bought the wrong stat.. You need one that has 2 stages of heat and one stage of A/c

I would recommend a HONEYWELL VISIONPRO 8000. This T-stat is awesome. The wires will hook up just like they did on the old T-stat. White to W, Red to R, Green to G, Blue to B or B/C, Yellow to Y and Orange to O. Leave the jump in so that the Red wire can power both the heating and cooling. The heat pump is probably for emergency heat and chances are it won't even come on all that often. You could just hook up White to W, Red to R, Yellow to Y, Green to G, and the blue wire is used for a Common so that the T-stat won't depend on the just the batteries. What kind of system to you have in your house? Is it forced-air heat, meaning that your furnace is a gas furnace with a blower?

I bought that same exact system. The answer is, look quizickly at it for about 10 minutes, then go to yellowpages.com and find an HVAC person to install it for you. It cost me $75 and it took 10 minutes. An electricion will not do it because of the mercury, and you can seriously mess up your system. I have a friend who's husband installed theres. There's no climate control with how he installed it. So it's either on or off. So caugh up the money and get a professional.

your old manual probably only used two of those wires check it at the funace to see which two and then read the instructions from the new thermostat and install.

You should tell us what kind of system you have. Is it oil forced hot water with a heat pump. Is it electric. Do you also have central air conditioning?
