What is so special about poor people?

You hear people cry that the rich aren't being taxed enough, and that no one is giving the poor enough money. Well, let me strike the root of the premise here. Why are poor people so special that they deserve an entire system designed to steal by force the wealth of others who actually work for it to give to them. You'd think they were gods or something.

In earlier times, people would be taxed, expected to give up a portion of their harvest, sacrifice their best animals, all to appease the gods. Now, we have to do the same for poor people. Since when did they become gods? Or do you think they are a test of mankind, sent to us by the gods?

There is nothing special about poor people. They are just an unambitious, incurious bunch who never studied in high school, but expected the more conscientious kids to give them the answers on the tests. Sorry, I don't feel any obligation to support them and their self-destructive habits and bad values.

Lily, feel sorry for them all you want, but what right does that give you to force ME to hand over my hard-earned money to government thugs with guns, so that they can give it to the poor. If you care about the poor, you'd help them yourself, and not send the mafia after me for making more money than poor people.

FootballFan makes the common mistake of thinking that every dollar one person makes is one dollar someone else doesn't. That's not how wealth works, buddy. In fact, the more righ people there are, the more money everyone else will make.

Any society is judged by the way it treats it's poorest members. Society is degraded by the fact that in general humans behave in accord with the lowest common denominator. Therefore the principle is that by lifting up the poorest you improve your own lot in life. Poor people are not exactly special since the majority of the world's population lives in poverty.

University graduates are subsidized by all taxpayers, even those who cannot afford to give their own children a higher education and as a result the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Your compassion for the rich, and disregard for the poor will come back to bite you on the ***, the first time you find yourself unemployed, terminally ill, or homeless.

Okay- I am a full time student, I run a volunteer program for our community, and have 5 children- I think you should really consider the poor people who actually are receiving help to better themselves. I am recently divorced, and I did not ask to be poor- but I am trying to take care of that problem! You shouldn't clump poor people together and label them as you have. There are hard working people who are poor because of the way child support laws are set up, the limits in our state are 65% plus taxes- they don't really have money.
As far as the one's who WON'T help themselves- I agree!
But you really should NOT lump ALL poor people together!!!
You do know that what you do and say comes back 3 fold- I hope you ask God for forgiveness-if not, you will someday be poor and regret what you have said!

What is your definition of a poor person? Everyone who is poor in life didn't chose to be that way. That's just stupid. ( I would say ignorant but you SEEM to be educated)
Not all are lazy or self-destructive. Some of them have actual problems. Maybe you didn't. Maybe you did. (Sounds like you are angry because you were the nerdy one in high school.) It's okay. I was chubby. Stop crying about poor people and go spend your money. I'm not sympathizing. Just trying to give you a different perspective.

answer one million) the rich are not being penalized or taxed or dealt with any in a distinctive way than absolutely everyone else. the money is taxed, no longer the guy. Bob the janitor will pay a similar tax cost on his income that Joe the CEO does. Bob will pay x% on the 1st $20k that he's paid, y% on the subsequent $50k, z% on the subsequent $100k etc. the sole reason that Joe will pay a distinctive volume in taxes is that he's paid a distinctive volume in income. If Joe have been paid much less, his income could be taxed much less. answer 2) call me the freaking wambulance. the rich pay a pair of greater money for each thousand money of income over a designated volume. They nonetheless take homestead piles of money. Bunch of spoiled crybabies who choose for to fake that they do no longer income inequitably from our society so as that they might decrease themselves the main important slice of the pie and then whine whilst somebody else asks for an added crumb.

On the flip side. Why do rich people think they are better? The system is designed to keep poor people poor, and rich people rich. People are taxed evenly till 80k. Anything above it, you pay the same amount. So, if you make 10mil a year, you get taxed the same amount as the guy making 80k. Thats messed up. Its not that poor people are special, its that rich people think their god.

I agree with you 100%. I grew up poor living in low income housing, and I'm the only family that "got out", so to say. I have seen alot of poor people my whole life and at least 98% of them are lazy and just looking for a hand out. Why is it they can afford new cell phones and cable TV, yet they qualify for low income housing and food stamps. These people chose to be poor, yet the democrats want me to support them even more?

Well, I think you should spend a day with some one who works hard and has nothing to show for it, because of taxes or child support or because they are trying to feed their family, then you would know what everyone is talking about.
My husband is over in Iraq and because he's ex wife still wants to hurt him she has took him to court for child support and now she gets 800.00 a month for one child because she lives in Ca and she makes about $ 18.00 hour and has a new husband that makes about 1300.00 ever 2 weeks and she thinks she needs more money from my husband, plus he pays $ 500.00 a month for another child and he can't find her, all he knows is that the child is with the grandmother somewhere, and not with the mother and the mother is getting the check.The courts told us that we have to have a fathers rights attorneys because with out one they would'nt hear anything that he has to say.
So you tell me, please because I want to know whats fare about this. My husband is also a LPN and I have a feeling you might not know what that is, so I'll tell you, IT"S A NURSE and because of this we can't have a good life we are POOR.

Oh, OK, so you Wealthy folks have high morals with your 3 mistresses and drugs and curroption and ignorance towards the lower and middle class. The rich can have low morals to you know, like when a CEO outsoucres a comapny leaving it's employees behind, hence they become poor.
