I bought a really nice pair of closed-toe court shoes for a friend's wedding, but within an hour of wearing them on the day my feet slid forwards and my toes were all scrunched up painfully at the front of the shoes. The heels and balls of my feet hurt too. I tried full insoles before the day to stop my heels coming out when I walked, but this only made the shoes too small at the toe. I tried "party feet" insoles on the day but they didn't help at all. I really like the shoes but I'm scared of wearing them again or buying any similar ones in case this happens again. Does anyone have any advice? Thank you!

I think I'd better clarify something - I'm talking about being able to wear (short, 1-2 inch) heels once in a blue moon when flat shoes really won't do, like at weddings or on nights out, not every day. I'm just looking for advice for how to make these times more bearable; I'm not intending to do any long-term damage to my feet/legs/back etc.

Two words:

Foot Petals

They sell them at JC Penney and have saved my life. I now have them in all my heeled shoes.

The most expensive shoes I ever bought were like that and I ended up giving them to my friend as she didn't feel the pain.

If the party feet insoles didn't help, you could try a better quality one but I don't think that would help much. Try to avoid wearing those shoes when you know you will have to walk much or stand up. When you are sitting down, make sure your feet are in a position you feel comfortable in.

It's not worth ruining your feet or back or a nice pair of shoes. Bring an extra pair and change your shoes if your feet start to hurt.

There are heel cushions you can buy that will grip your heel and keep your foot from sliding. You probably have a narrow heel. Go to Easy Spirit and have them fit you in shoes that have an A or AA heel and a B front. The fit like magic.

I know what you mean. I love heels- I wear 3inch stilletos to Uni., most of the girls hate me. I guess, that i am now used to the pain, as I started wearing heels from a very young age. Failing that- i would go with selecting lower highs: kitten heels, perhaps. aand then gradually building your tolarance level. If you're anything like me- there is no point in telling you to stop wearing them...

When I was in my teens and early twenties I wore shoes like that and tried everything. I kept wearing them and today I have mis-shapen toes, fallen arches and all sorts of problems as a result, so my advice would be not to wear them ever again and in future wear a slightly lower heel so that you do not get foot problems in the future.

Velcro. Staple some to your foot and some to the inside of your shoes - your feet definitely won't shift inside the shoes then. Alternatively, if you really love these shoes you can try superglue but be prepared to wear the shoes 24/7 for about 2 weeks. Hope that helps...

One time I put a few of the small, round band-aids on the soles of my feet. The event I went to involved a lot of dancing and moving, but my feet stayed in place! Make sure that the band-aids have the rubbery, almost foam top, not just the plastic.
