Yes, to deveop mind, spirit and body!
Then our spirit wants to return to the Supreme Creator, I call him God...but that's my english word...it has different words all over the world...I don't think God is impressed by our words...it's what's inside that counts...and God is the Only Spirit that takes me back....just as I am!

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

Yes! Yes! Yes! We are here in a journey that started even before this universe was formed. We are spiritual children of a being that does not live in this planet and he is usually called God (he lives somewhere else, but his power and influence is everywhere in the universe "we know".
In the past, I was so confused about my existence.I visited several religions to find the answers and I could not. People thought that I was too "scientific" about the origin of mankind and I agree with them. But I also knew that I was much more than this material body but I didi't know how to find the answers to my questions until I met Mormon Missionaries(yes they are Christians, really; and they use the King James Bible too).
It was amazing! I am so greatful for learning truths from them that made total sense about the existence of a God and Jesus Christ the way that seems very real to me. It is said that by the fruits of a tree we can find if the tree is good or bad and believe me, the Mormon teachings(the Official LDS church) and the people who follow them are really open minded and realistic about this topic and all the other topics they teach. I love that.
I love science, I love philosophy and what a place to find the answers for everything! I feel so good in knowing who I am, why I am here and where me and all the people who lives or ever lived in this planet goes after this life.

We can point out how many people tried to answer this question and identify the great minds that have given their own answers...
But your question is: Do any of us really know?
The answer is we can make intelligent, reasoned arguments, but this is one that we will have to wait until the end of the movie to get the answer.
We cannot know.
Acting like we do know is the reason for the great crusades, jihad, the holocaust, etc. The more we are convinced we have the answer, the more fanatical we become.
There is no one answer. There are only possibilities.
Respect all the answers and learn to combine them because together we can achieve and arrive at the most useful and practical spiritual answer.

Tempting though it is to think of a reason for being, everything we know about natural selection points to the fact that we are merely a well developed species, who at the moment has achieved more in terms of progress than any other, but has the capability to destroy the planet on which we live - maybe we're not so advanced after all.

Yes, I discovered Jesus Christ. Most people would say oh no not another one of those Born Again christians .... I used to say the same thing, but then I prayed and searched for the Truth and found it. Read the Holy Bible, start with the New Testament.
The Truth is that Jesus, God in the flesh came to us 2000 years ago. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whosoever believes in Him will have eternal life"
Yes God loves us. What have you got to lose, search Him while he may be found. One day He will come back.... Will you know Him ... I hope so...
Give God a chance, I did, I even walked away when things got tough in my life but came back... I want to go to Heaven do you?

Personally, I think the meaning of life is just living from one day to the next. What decisions we make, which roads we take or don't and the whys of both.
As to why we're here, God (in all His names, forms and glory) was lonely. He existed, all by Himself, since before the dawn of time (talk about lonely!). Unable to bear it any longer, he split himself into billions of pieces, giving life to everyone and everything in the universe. Part of His consciousness lives in every single person/being in our universe, and He feels what we do, enriching us and Himself.
Wow, was I all poetical there! *smacks self* Didn't mean to be. That help a little?

I would say that life is a learning experience. I would say man is an immortal spiritual being. His experience extends well beyond a single lifetime. His capabilities are unlimited, even if not presently realized, life is a small necessary part of spiritual developement.

Crissy, I 've seen that question, I think 100s of times and I'm sure it's been asked a billion times. No one on this earth knows the answer and there's no one to tell us who has the right answer. And If we knew the answer somebody would come along and say it was wrong. It won't change a damn thing.

If there is even a "reason", no one knows it. The best answer anyone can come up with at this point, is the meaning of an individual's life is whatever he/she decides it is for his/herself.
