If you can withstand a sharp pinch or bee sting then you can deal with an epidural. Depending on what your hospital offers, you can the standard epidural which is just a catheter in your back and a single dose of medicine which lasts for a while or if you have a low threshold of pain you can get the one that is similar to the standard but it's hooked up to a remote which whenever you push the button it release a new dose of medicine. I chose to have one with both my kids b/c you can actually savor the moment of giving birth b/c your not screaming your head off from the pain.

The epidural does pinch and hurt a little but if you compare it to the pain of labor, it's nothing. I was also told that if I moved while they were giving me the epidural, I could get a really bad headache. My answer to that was "yeah, and?" Give me the damn shot already!

If it is done right, the only thing you will feel is what feels like a bee sting from the numbing shot. Then you will feel slight pressure around the middle of your back, but you shouldn't feel pain. Just do exactly as the anesthesiologist says, and you'll be fine.

Not really-you will feel a prick of the needle and and electrical type feeling down the back of your legs. Not bad. Congrats to you on your new baby!
