Philosophy is a constant whether one is aware of it or not. The concept of studying it, is barely involved with it's own occurrence. Philosophy as it is stated by means of academics or a subject, is the interpretation of an inexplicable process, life. People liking it or not is irrelevant, because many people too many people believe it is a subject of exploration, when in truth it is how things work in conjunction or opposition of all other things. The subject that shows up as a topic of discussion is only how the human mind sees it.

Doing better? Interpersonally, intrapersonally, financially? What do you mean by better?
I'd say yes.
People who tend to be philosophical also tend to be disliked since the masses do not like to have their comfortable ignorance challenged. On the flip side a philosophical person is less likely to care about being disliked.
The philosopher understands that pleasure isn't happiness, therefore generally will lead a more fulfilling life.
Understanding yourself and the world around you the best that you possibly can provides an existence that can't be matched by the struggle for power (how most people live). True power is knowing thyself. Socrates was smart.

I will take doing better as meaning a level of personal satisfaction defined within the individual him or herself, in this case I would say the numbers are pretty equal. There are those who look to philosophy out of a sense of there being meaning and those that look out of a sense of there being no answer.
I think when you create a broad demographic the numbers always come up the same, as if there are always x number of leaders and y number of followers in any group.
A more specific statement like people who like spirituality conveys a positive towards a body of info that conveys meaning so in that I would say people who like spitrituality are doing better then those that don't/

It feel it depends on whether you value complete understanding of your world. I know plenty of people who are so far perfectly content to go through life seemingly without exploring all the wonder around them. So I suppose the study of philosophy is important to me, along with the study of many other subjects.
Hmmm... I hope there was an answer somewhere in there.

Not really, but at least we tend to use the gray matter more in just trying to find ways that keep us alert, active, thinking and learning!
