Not so much, but you picked the worst time to be there as it is flooding season...you really want to go sometime before the end of October.

Well, there is definitely less life than in the high season or during the carnival and the film festival. Nevertheless, it is an important city and you should not have any problems finding something to do in a variety of places: i.e. cafes, museums, bars, jazz clubs (Venice has some very good ones).

unfortunally the high season is finished in Venice ...therefore you may not find much of a night life .....do know that you have plenty of beautiful structures to see ,wonderful arts , and you can always take a train from Venice and go to a near city .....check with your travel agent for accomodations outside but near Venice
it is also in november and december that flooding start in Venice !so ? there is not much life night in Venice anyway , people leave to go bak at their hotels .......while tourist season ? lots of moving around .
here is a site that you may want to check ?
http://www.world66.com/europe/italy/veneto/venice
on this site there are some explanations of areas to stay..
have a good trip !!!!!!!!
