rather than just hitting the ground and melting?

32 degrees farenheit or lower. And remember the ground has to be under 32 degrees b/c if its a little higher then it will melt as soon as it hits the ground

It depends more on vapour pressure than temperature I,ve gotten sunnburned while glacier climbing and was once trapped for 3 days by a snowstorm in August ( I was mountain climbing at the time)

doesnt matter how cold it is out side but the ground has to be 30 deg or lower
