Hi I'm a nurse and I know first hand how hard it is. I work on a busy medsurg-oncology unit and there is not a day that goes by I don't say I'm quitting, but then I look at my patients and I know in my heart this is what I am cut out to do. I have to be honest and say if you really feel you've had enough and you are burned out from it, then I think you should continue looking for another line of work. Nursing is demanding physically and emotionally and it's not for everyone. Follow your heart and don't be afraid to make a change. Nothing is worse than getting up and going to a job you really dislike and find no satisfaction in. I pray you find your niche and God bless you.

Yea, my advice is to not leave nursing. You're going to have a tough time finding a job anywhere else in this market. Why don't you think it over a little more and maybe there's another part of nursing that you'd like more? You get your masters and be a nurse practitioner or informatics or administration or anything - but remember that of all the things you could do, leaving nursing is not your only option.

Ask yourself why you were not happy with your nursing career. Was it the pay, the conditions or the people you worked with. There are many niches in nursing so maybe you weren't in the right niche. Some nurses love working with birthing babies and taking care of new mothers. Some love the challenge of working in emergency rooms and saving lives. Some prefer working with older people and helping them living dignified lives with the challenges of old age. Maybe you just need to find the right place to practice nursing. Some hospitals and clinics don't treat their nurses very well and don't pay them squat and then there are hospitals that respect their nurses and pay them accordingly and make sure they aren't working so many hours that they have no quality private life.
