Don't feel bad. So did I before I turned gray. My son's hair, on the other hand, is redder in the summertime and auburn come fall. I believe there were a lot of Nordic influence in early Ireland (that accounts for the blonde coloring, anyway). As for the red hair, who knows? A true Irish person is said to have red hair and green eyes and I have honestly only known 1 such person! Then again, she could have had contacts in, too, for that matter.

However, people with dark hair like you are common amongst Irish people, about 36% have dark brown hair but black hair is very rare almost nonexistent. However most dark-haired Irish people have these piercing blue eyes which makes it a great combination.
