Because life is limited, and that makes it worth living, otherwise we would get bored.

Even though the universe is vast and blah, blah, blah, it does not change the fact that people are mortal beings capable of taking up space only for so long. Actually, there is not enough room on earth for organic life forms if death did not occur. It seems that death is natures way of cleaning the house every now and then. Not only that, but can you imagine what it would feel like to have to make good on those 'forever' promises like marriage, and friends. Ugh :)

The only certainty in life is death. Without this we could never be certain of anything, imagine that! Nothing lasts forever and for this reason everybody must die. Space, is there really enough?

We are a part of something that is so much greater than us; something that is in fact infinite, and that is God's creation. The purpose of our existance is founded in God's reason for creation. If in fact we were infinite that would make us God - which quite obviously we know we are not. Then, if we were God, we wouldn't be able to be contained in th universe, for even that is exists in physical finiteness no matter how vast it may be. The purpose of our existance according to the Bible is that we were made in order to glorify God. The problem is that soon after humanity was created, it made a conscious decision to step away from God and attempt life autonomously. Before this "fall" humanity was in fact "perfect." That is, we were eternal beings who lived in perfect communion with God. But, as a result of our disobedience to our creator, we experience both physical and spiritual seperation from God. Physical death is a direct result of this.

This all seems strange and quite depressing. But the truth is, that in our blatant disobedience to God, God already had a divine plan for the redemtion of humanity. And so God sent Jesus Christ or God the Son to the earth to be crucified as a sacrifice for our disobedience to God. God is perfect and cannot abide anything that is not in accordance to his perfect and holy nature. That is why it was necessary for the Christ take upon himself the sins of the whole world, that humanity might be able to come back to God.

We must still reap the consequences of our disobedience and experience physical death, however, God in His infinite wisdom and grace has provided a way for us to be redeemed spiritually, so that even after our physical death, our souls will live on in communion with God for eternity. God's children coming back to Him is the greatest glory He could recieve. "God is most glorified when providing for His children, likewise, the children are most satisfied when participating in the Father's provision."

There is really so much more to it than that, and if you are interested in further dialogue my e-mail is garden_of_thought@yahoo.com Hope this helped.

How can we develop without dying? We won't be able to improve or advance, our tailbones and other useless appendages will be stuck with us forever, just when we were getting to the point of losing these last remnants of our reptilian past.

Don't ask me, I just live here. I've been born and I'm gonna die too. I can't answer that, no one can. I try not to think about why we're here because it hurts my brain.
