As long as you have memorized your lines and know where you are suppose to be. You'll be fine. And if you need some help with anything dont be scared to ask your director. Being out in front of an audience really isnt that scary. It seems it but just try to be as relaxed as you can. Remember this is fun!! But other than that drink lots of water the day of your show. Its good for your voice. =] Break a leg.

I remember in high school this play was being done on two separate nights, with different actors each night. Because it was my school, I went to both performances. There was a small part that two different girls had. The amazing thing was that the first night the part was played very seriously, and somewhat boringly. The girl who played the part the second night, did it in a fairly humorous fashion and was the hit of the play. Go figure.

Oh Shoot! I wish you had asked this much much sooner, because there really isn't much time to prepare properly. However, any little bit you can do will help, and you will be prepared for the next part if you read and practice...

Uta Hagen's "Respect for Acting" It takes you through the Stanislovsky style of acting prep. If you really practice this you will become much stronger in your acting.

Another important question to ask yourself. What does your character want? Why does your character want it? What obstacles stand in the way of getting what your character wants? Does your character get what your character wants? Why or why not?

Well, you will be incredibly nervous the day, night and minutes before. As soon as you step on to the stage - adrenaline and everything you have learned will kick in and you will start to enjoy it. The first moments will be the hardest. Know that you arent the only person on the stage and do what comes naturally. I have known very few people who ever have made horrible mistakes - nobody has ever fallen or forgotten completely their lines.

relax, take deep breaths, and pretend only the cast is there. Make sure you practice, and if you make a mistake, it isnt the end of the world, just be able to laugh it off in the end and add it to your memories as a great experience! GOOD LUCK! Im sure you wont need it. Have fun and enjoy yourself, that's what matters most!

read the lines over and over till you know them, then use the character(as to what part your playing) and be it.I was a spy in my high school drama class and I had to replay the role(which was written in as what we wanted to be when we grew up)in a christmas play.4 performances.3 for the school one for the parents, and on the fourth one I screwed up the line but ad libbed to make it work(basically I walked off stage to set a bomb and it explodes)my line was
"I dont want to be a spy it blew up"and I said it backwards it still got the laugh and the audience didnt know any better, just my classmates but since I recovered the fumble no one said a word,so relax, learn the line and immurse your self into the character, remember not to be stiff but animate yourself, the slightest motions in character will make you interesting to the crowd and believable

you want help? you should already know how to deal with it nomatter who you are.b4 you do the play just ask yourself if you know the people who are gonna see you act if so then just ACT like your rehearsing it with them. look at them... if you can and recite what you have to say. if its not that easy then visualize what would happen if you did screw up......yeah the more you thunk about what might go wrong the more prepared youll be.life is full of mistakes and you dont want to make the mistake of trying to rush through something that defines you as a person. just take it slow and youll be fine

Chill out. Just get calm and focus on your part and BE your character. You can't pay attention to the other stuff or you will freak out. You want to get psyched UP, not psyched OUT. And just have fun. It's not life and death. Good luck, or as they say, break a leg!

Haha, I am trying out for a play this coming Monday, and it's my first one, too. I'm doing this to overcome embarrassment and shyness, so maybe you can just tell yourself to stop being so nervous. I'm sure you'll do fine!

Good luck!
