Topstiching Denim jeans?

i'm making a pair of jeans and was wondering what thread is used in order to topstich the seams and hem areas like levis and other manufacturers use. Is it a heavy cotton and where can i buy it from.

Why not use button hole thread, you can buy it where you normally buy your sewing threads. I use this in my machine when I shorten my daughters jeans. The thread comes in various colours including a colour which is like the one used on Levis.
