Absolutely not! It is a violation of your rights to force you to stand. After all this is America, and that pledge stands for freedom, including your freedom to not stand. There is nothing they can do, other than to ask you to stand, if you refuse, that is your right. Never be ashamed to stand up (or sit down) for your rights, if you let them take that away, they will continue to take your rights away.

Those who want to stand have the right to do so, and those who do not also have that right. I beleive the lyrics say "home of the free and the brave".

There are no laws forcing the acknowledgment of the national anthem or the pledge of allegiance. However, it is a show of respect for the symbols of the freedom that give you the right not to stand or participate. It is also an acknowledgment of the history that formed this country and the people who have fought and given their lives for you to have that freedom. It isn't a law but a privilege.

You are not required to stand and sing the National Anthem if you don't want to!
You are not a bad American if you do not want to stand and sing the National Anthem!

If you are going to live in this country, then you should support the values and ideals that America is founded on. I can understand why you would be in conflict about America's image these days, however, it is America's ideals that allow you express those feelings and act on them by protesting (not standing for the national anthme is a form of protest no matter what fascist uber-conservative says) and most importantly VOTING. I personally still stand during the national anthem and I know the words by heart. Regardless of America's present leadership, the American ideal is still the best one in the world.

It is a legitimate show of respect for any countryman to stand for his/her country's National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance (whether USA, France, Russia, etc). Brave men and women fought for and died for your right to even question our country's policies and leaders - show respect for them and stand.

No, you are not required to do anything. If you do not want to stand, sing, place your hand over your heart, and so on, you should not be required to. I don't.

It is expected if you are physically able to do so.

I also feel that you should look it up and get to know the origins and meansing of both recitations before you get indoctrinated into becoming a democrat.

I think you need to learn what they mean and how important they are to us as a nation.

Since as a citizen of our nation you are suppose to be loyal to our nation ( something too many liberals don't remember)
