You dont use a file sharing program! You can do this by running the VPN on your XP. Look in the help file for VPN and it will tell you exactly what you need to do. You will have to set it up on both PCs. You can find your I.P. addy by typing my ip on your web search.

Every computer on a network has it's own unique IP address (a set of numbers separated by dots). As the Internet is made up of several networks, going to your IP address will mean that it will go to a computer within the network you are currently in. You will probably have to span two or three networks to get to your computer. The way round this is for you to obtain what is called a 'static IP' address from your ISP - if you do not your IP address will keep changing anyway everytime you connect to the Internet. Then you can set up a VPN (Virtual Private Network). Just going to your IP address will not necessarily mean that you can upload and download files, as you will need to configure firewall settings and possibly proxy server settings.

You will be better off either getting an account with gotomypc.com or getting some web space (which is secure) and uploading your files to a web server on the Internet.

Hope this helps.

I think you're talking about your IP address? If so, then on your computer go to the bottom right hand corner where the clock is, and you should have the double computer icon. Click that and then click the support tab up top, and you're second option should be your IP Address. I hope that Helps. Good Luck! = )

you can use a tool like this. http://whatismyipaddress.com/

But remember, it may change at times depending upon the type of connection you have with your ISP.

PS: Matar
Your externel IP (that which is showing on the internet) is often different from the one on your machine.

Then on the authentic of the window there'll be 2 tabs "generic" and "help". click "help" and the 2d itemizing from the authentic must be your IP handle. Cheers.
