Shell Rotella has high zinc content, that's a high pressure lubricant, but it contributes to the ash content. I use Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40 in my 7.3 f250 diesel.

Only buy oil that is specially made for disel engine. Go to any auto shop.

Check your manual for the best oil to be used or call your GMC dealer near you.

I use 15w40 in the 91 Chevy box van that drive for my job.

either rotella or mobil 1 delvac. they are the best as far as ash protection and not sludging.
