OK, I am the real deal when it comes to sad, embarrassing music. Neil Diamond? Not a problem, can sing everything he ever put out, including of course all the Jazz Singer tracks. Britney? No bother - Hit Me Baby, Overprotected, Toxic, all in my collection. Meat Loaf? C'moooon - I was RAISED on that stuff - even have the Jim Steinman album that the songwriter released using his own very very very bad voice when Meat Loaf wouldn't sing the stuff - I Got Dance In My Pants, Surf's Up And So Am I etc...Hell, I have Billie Piper's first album(!). Also have the full Kylie collection, let alone Madonna.
All of which I admit plainly in sight of the world, largely cos most of my friends know me well enough by now to go "Oh it's just him...he's weird..."
Had to dig deep in the collection to find stuff I'd actually be embarrassed to admit I liked, but I finally did it. And while I also served my time in the laughable mosh-pits of hair-rockers like Poison, Twisted Sister and Pretty Boy Floyd, the most embarrassing thing I secretly like would be...ahem...Manowar.
For those who go mercifully innocent of this lot, they're "epic war" obssessed male chauvinist nutters, who call themselves the "Kings of Metal" (also the name of the song I'd pick to most exemplify them), are silly enough to actually go for - and I think still hold - the World Record for loudest rock band on the planet, and I daresay would fit their amps with dials that went up to 11 if they thought they could get away with it.
Daft as they are though, there's something fun about the seriousness with which they take all this, and I have a sentimental attachment to them because to do it with a straight face must take quite a bit of work...

Anything by Neil Diamond. **hangs head in shame**
I can't help it! My dad loved the guy and raised us on his CD's. Now I hear him and just feel......'safe.' You know? That feeling like you are "home." Don't you dare tell anyone I told you this. *wink*
