To me it means the a day dedicated to those noble men and women who died in the line of duty. It is a way of paying tribute to them for their great sacrifices.

Sorry, but I can't remember..............

(Seriously though), as an Irishman, I have great memories of the November remembrance day parade. My father always carried the Union flag and proudly marched to church ahead of a large group of ex-British servicemen. Then on to the Cenotaph where a wreath of red poppies was placed. It is a fact that more Irishmen died in both wars than Englishmen. Many Irishmen distinguished themselves during the wars and were highly decorated for their heroism. Britain's greatest General, Wellington no less, was born in Dublin. So you see, we in the Republic of Ireland have a proud tradition of doing our share in world conflict even though the nation remained neutral through the second World War ..............

Remembrance day is day that we should think about our fellow man and women who fought for our country's and the freedom that we have. I live in Ontario Canada and only Quebec and Ontario get 3 minutes of silence, other provinces get a full day off to remember and attend services. Some people think that we should only remember people that fought in the world wars, but we sould not forget the people that are fighting in all wars even to-day's war.
