I would rather know when. If you knew how then you might try to avoid it and get killed. Read the link about Oedipus. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oedipus

I don't think I can ever chose one, from another. There are things that shouldn't be known. On the one hand, knowing when you die, would make you obsessed with this death. And if you know how, then that will mark your mind with this thought for a very long time. This way you die a little more every day and it's a lot more painful then death itself.

Honestly, I wouldn't choose to know either. I don't want to know to when I will die and I have no desire to know how it will happen. At one time I probably would have said to either one, but not now.
I try to live each day to its fullest. I do have a list of things that I want to do before I die, but they aren't a necessity. I currently live a very full life, full of fulfilling things. I could die tomorrow and be completely satisfied with what I've done up through today.
Don't think about dying. Think about living.
To be honest, I plan to live forever.
My two cents.

I'd rather choose HOW- coz it might give me a clue WHEN I'm gonna die. For example, if I know that I'm gonna die in a ship, then I might know that I would die on any of the ship voyages I take.

I would prefer to leave my death a mystery, by knowing how then you will live in fear of everything and shut yourself off from the world, if when you will be paranoid until the day comes. I want to live my life and fill it with Love and Hope and Faith so that when and how I do die become insignificant in the grande scheme of things.

If I would choose one, it will be when. Knowing "when" your going to die can prepare you on "how" your going to live life. Instead of just knowing "how", most people will be paranoid or develop phobia, always thinking when, where, what will be the cause of death.

It is hard to anser when you take it seriously. I was working in Iraq and used to know how I will die but just don't know when. I should be back in Iraq in two months, so I feel like I know I will die one month after I arrive but not sure how.

I'd rather know when; all the other choices are pointless if you have the information but are not able to use it for the benefit of making your life the most complete it could be.

I think I'd like to know when, So that three months before it I could take out a huge bank loan [with insurance ], spend the lot and have a ball and not have to pay it back.

I think knowing how is better, lets say someone says you're going to die in NY by getting hit with a car. then i would simply move from NY to another state/country. haha i escaped death!!! or final destination...it would suck if it comes back.
