10% of $35.99 is $3.59. Substract $3.59 to $35.99. But remember there's taxes too. It's going to be $32.39 without taxes.

A 10% discount is easy, you just move the decimal point to the left to figure out the amount you'll be given as a discount. So with the shirt they'll take $3.599 off the regular price. Round up on the amount and it will be $3.60 that they actually give you as a discount. Subtract that from $35.99 and the amount you will pay is $32.39. If there are any taxes to be paid on the item, then they are supposed to be calculated for the $32.39 amount and not the $35.99 amount.

Using your brain only, the easiest way to go by 10%'s. You take off the last number, so 10% of $35.99 is $3.59. Subtract $3.59 from $35.99 which is $32.40.

Multiply 35.99 times .1 and you will get your answer. Remember to add taxes.
